The Midlands Industrial Ceramics Group is hosting an event to explore the work being undertaken in the region within the critical area of advanced ceramics.
With the capability to unlock the performance of a wide range of innovative technologies, including energy-efficient jet engines, clean energy systems such as fuel cells and batteries and components for 5G telecommunication, advanced ceramics are vital to the UK.
MICG, made up of industrial and academic partners based in the Midlands, is in the middle of a £40 million, five-year programme to make advances in the sector and will be sharing details of its performance to date at a morning session in Nottingham on 6th November.
Aimed at manufacturers looking at how advanced ceramics could solve critical technology challenges, academics looking at the research being undertaken at MICG and those interested in hearing why the Midlands is the place to drive forward advancements in the sector, the event takes place at the Jubilee Hotel at the University of Nottingham’s Jubilee Campus.
Dr Gilda Gasparini, of Midlands Industrial Ceramics Group, said: “This event provides a great opportunity to find out more about the development of advanced ceramics in the Midlands.

MICG is made up of blue-chip companies including Rolls-Royce, Morgan Advanced Materials and Foseco, as well as SMEs including Lucideon, Precision Ceramics and PCL – together with the universities of Birmingham, Leicester and Loughborough.
MICG secured £18.27 million government funding, provided through UK Research and Innovation’s flagship Strength in Places Fund (SIPF), in October 2021.
