Your work with MICG
Precision Ceramics has engaged in projects primarily around dthe evelopment of additive layer manufacturing of ceramics coordinating work with technology partners at Loughborough and Birmingham Universities. The aim of the work is to evaluate the potential additive layer methods (ALM) for engineering ceramics and compare materials quality, costs, viability and overall benefits to the traditional manufacturing routes. The ultimate aim is to select the most suitable ALM technique(s) for in-house production at Precision Ceramics and increasing the overall capability of Midlands engineering ceramics manufacture.
Aims for the future under the MICG programme
The aims for the future are to continue this work with our University partners and incorporate cost-effective, high-quality ALM ceramic manufacture at Precision Ceramics in the next 12 months. This will supplement the existing capability with the potential to manufacture complex and small components in small quantity batch sizes. In addition, Precision Ceramics will support the MICG with respect to outreach, networking and ceramics technology promotion to potential new end-use applications.
