Innovation in the advanced ceramics sector requires bringing together skills across the supply chain to channel different expertise through collaboration. Lucideon has been involved in a number of projects working with the MICG partners supported by the “Midlands Advanced Ceramics for Industry 4.0” Programme.
Lucideon successfully demonstrated the viscous plastic processing (VPP) of silicon carbide (SiC) ceramics and evaluated the impact of green machining on alumina parts produced by robocasting. Furthermore, Lucideon explored innovative processing techniques such as xenon flash lamp sintering and granulation for additive manufacturing.
Lucideon investigated hydrogen-enhanced firing of ceramic water filters, confirming negligible impacts on performance properties and supporting the ceramics industry’s transition to lower-carbon processing solutions.
